What is a GST calculator?

A GST calculator applies India's Goods and Services Tax to an amount. It handles the two directions people need: adding tax to a base price, and pulling the tax back out of a GST-inclusive bill. The result also splits tax into CGST and SGST halves for domestic sales, which keeps invoices tidy.

For example, a Rs 1,000 item at 18% GST costs Rs 1,180 with Rs 180 tax (Rs 90 CGST plus Rs 90 SGST). If a bill of Rs 1,180 already includes 18%, the base is about Rs 1,000. Common slabs here are 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%.

How to use this GST calculator

  1. Type the amount in the Amount box.
  2. Choose the GST rate: 0%, 5%, 12%, 18% or 28%.
  3. Pick GST Exclusive to add tax, or GST Inclusive to remove it.
  4. Press Calculate GST and read total, GST, CGST and SGST.

Why use this tool

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add GST to a price?

Choose GST Exclusive, enter the base amount and rate, then calculate. A Rs 1,000 base at 18% gives Rs 180 tax and a Rs 1,180 total, split as Rs 90 CGST and Rs 90 SGST.

How do I remove GST from a bill?

Choose GST Inclusive and enter the billed amount. The tool divides by one plus the rate to recover the base, so Rs 1,180 at 18% shows about Rs 1,000 base and Rs 180 tax.

What are CGST and SGST?

For sales within a state, GST is shared equally between the centre (CGST) and the state (SGST). This page simply halves the GST amount into those two lines.

Which GST slabs are supported?

You can pick 0%, 5%, 12%, 18% or 28%, matching India's common slabs. Rates can change by item, so confirm your product's slab on the bill.
